Hydrogen-Bonding Secondary Coordination Sphere Effect on CO2 Reduction

چکیده
Great efforts of the scientific community are focused on development catalysts for reduction carbon dioxide (CO2) to useful molecules such as monoxide, formic acid, methanol, ethanol, methane, ethylene, or acetate. Various metal porphyrin complexes were synthesized and studied develop highly active selective catalysts. While substituents core (the primary coordination sphere) determine reactivity metal, introduction secondary is important binding activation CO2. In this review, selected examples iron with a sphere capable stabilizing intermediates CO2 process by hydrogen bonding presented.

A tris(2-quinolylmethyl)amine scaffold that promotes hydrogen bonding within the secondary coordination sphere.
A new quinolyl-based ligand presents three amide functionalities to act as hydrogen-bond accepting groups to a metal-bound substrate at a well-defined distance. As a confirmation of the design strategy, CH(3)CN coordinated to copper(II) participates in CH-O interactions in the solid state and in solution.

Ir(I)-induced tautomerization of a pyridine moiety to a carbene in 2,3-bipyridyls has been successfully achieved where an amide group plays a key role as a hydrogen-bonding acceptor and the carbene tautomer is stabilized by both chelation effect and by hydrogen-bonding.
متن کاملA family of tri- and dimetallic pyridine dicarboxamide cryptates: unusual O,N,O-coordination and facile access to secondary coordination sphere hydrogen bonding interactions.
A series of tri- and dimetallic metal complexes of pyridine dicarboxamide cryptates are reported in which changes to the base and metal source result in diverse structure types. Addition of strong bases, such as KH or KN(SiMe3)2, followed by divalent metal halides allows direct access to trinuclear complexes in which each metal center is coordinated by a dianionic N,N,N-chelate of each arm. The...
متن کاملEffect of quantum nuclear motion on hydrogen bonding.
This work considers how the properties of hydrogen bonded complexes, X-H⋯Y, are modified by the quantum motion of the shared proton. Using a simple two-diabatic state model Hamiltonian, the analysis of the symmetric case, where the donor (X) and acceptor (Y) have the same proton affinity, is carried out. For quantitative comparisons, a parametrization specific to the O-H⋯O complexes is used. Th...
متن کاملControlling Secondary Structures of Bio-Polymers with Hydrogen-Like Bonding
We present results for a lattice model of bio-polymers where the type of β-sheet formation can be controlled by different types of hydrogen bonds depending on the relative orientation of close segments of the polymer. Tuning these different interaction strengths leads to low-temperature structures with different types of orientational order. We perform simulations of this model and so present t...
